Stronglifts: How to Change Increments (Android)

StrongLifts automatically increases the weight if you completed all sets on that exercise.

You can change the increment settings like this:

  1. Start workout
  2. Tap the "Sets x Reps x Weight"
  3. Tap "Increments"

Here you'll find three settings

  • Progressive overload: disable this if you don't want StrongLifts to add weight automatically on this exercise when you complete all sets.
  • Increments: default is 2.5kg/5lb per workout. You can set smaller increments of 1kg/2lb or less for exercises that work smaller muscles like bench. Of you can set bigger increments if the weights feel too easy and you want to go faster.
  • Frequency: StrongLifts increases the weight every workout by default. But You can set it to increase every 2 workouts, or 3 workouts. Some poeple prefer a less aggressive progression.

Tap "apply to all exercises" at the bottom if you want your new settings to apply to every exercise in your program.

Deload Settings

StrongLifts automatically decreases the weight if you fail to complete all sets on that exercise.

You can change the deload settings like this:

  1. Start workout
  2. Tap the weight
  3. Tap increments

Here you'll find three settings

  • Deload: disable this if you don't want StrongLifts to decrease the weight automatically on this exercise when you fail to complete all sets.
  • Percentage: default is 10%, meaning if you fail with 100kg, the app will deload to 90kg (220lb will deload to 200lb). But you can change this to 5-25% if you prefer
  • Frequency: StrongLifts decreases the weight after 3 consecutive fails at the same weight. But you can set it to deload after 2 consecutive fails, or even one workout with failed sets.

Tap "apply to all exercises" at the bottom if you want your new settings to apply to every exercise in your program

Deload After Break

StrongLifts will automatically deload the weight if you didn't log any workout for more than a week.

You will get a message on the home screen that you didn't log any workout for x days, and that StrongLifts deloaded the weights.

If you do want to deload, simply tap "cancel" in that prompt, to undo the deload.
