How to Report a Bug
If you experience a bug with Stronglifts, you can report it like this:
- Open Stronglifts
- Go to Settings > Profile > Login (this creates an account).
- Go back to Settings > " Report an issue"
This will send us an email that includes your device and purchase information as well as your workout history. It helps us troubleshoot the bug.
Please include the steps to reproduce the issue. Ideally, you can include a screenshot or screen recording of the bug. This makes it easier to understand the issue you may have.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which information should I provide?
We need to understand what you expect the app to do, and what it should be doing instead. This helps us understand and fix issues quickly.
- Please provide steps to reproduce the bug
- What did the app do?
- What should the app do instead?
- How can we reproduce the issue?
- Please provide a screenshot or screen recording of the bug
Poor bug reports are one-liners like "doesn't work". We need to know what you mean in order to help you. We need to know what doesn't work - what did the app do and what do you want it to do instead? Best is to provide a screenshot or screen recording so we can see the bug.
I can't contact you from the app
You need to set up an email client on your device to contact us from the Stronglifts app.
- iPhone
- If email is not set up, the send button will not be active when you try to send an email from the app.
- Please set up email using the steps described here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/102619
- Android
- Stronglifts > settings > report an issue > tap "copy" to copy the device information.
- Then send us this information to support at stronglifts dot com (paste it in the email).
We prefer that you contact us from the app so we receive your device and purchase information. This reduces back & forth. We won't need to ask you for more information, and you won't need to send a second email with what we need. It saves us both time.
Why did I experience a bug?
Quality is one of the top priorities at Stronglifts. We have several quality assurance processes in place that include automatic and manual tests. Every new app version is tested before it is released to all Stronglifters. The majority of bugs are caught during our internal testing phase.
Despite this, it's inevitable for some bugs to slip through. The most common reason is that the app is used in ways that we didn't anticipate. There are countless ways the app can be used, and not every scenario can be predicted or tested beforehand.
Sometimes we get bug reports but the app is working as intended. For example: the 1x5 Deadlift in Stronglifts 5x5 is not a bug but a feature. We work hard to ensure our app is as bug-free as possible. It's very unlikely that you will experience a bug. We keep our bug backlog small to maintain quality.
How long does it take to fix a bug?
It depends on how severe the bug is. We determine this by looking at how many people are potentially affected by this bug, whether it affects major or minor features if there is a workaround, etc. All issues are documented and then triaged based on severity.
We plan our work well in advance and can’t drop everything for minor bugs. If we did, we would never make any progress. We only pause our planned work for critical bugs affecting a lot of people. This is however rare because our processes prevent these from happening in the first place.
Once a bug is fixed, we’ll email you with an update. If we haven't emailed you yet, then that means the bug hasn't been addressed yet.
