How do I turn on Low Power Mode when I start a StrongLifts workout?
Low Power Mode makes your battery last longer during your StrongLifts workout.
On your iPhone, an automation can turn it on each time you open StrongLifts. On your Apple Watch, turn it on in Control Center before you start your workout.
On iPhone
- Open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone. Tap the back button at the top left to see Library, then tap Automation.
- Tap the Add button (+). If you see "Describe a shortcut", tap Edit at the top right.
- Tap Automation above the action list. Scroll down to Apps, then tap App.
- In "When App is Opened", tap App, then tap StrongLifts in the list. Keep Opened.
- Tap the search field at the bottom, search for "Low Power Mode", then tap "Set Low Power Mode".
- The action says "Turn Low Power Mode On". Tap the back button. Your automation shows in the Automation list, with its switch on.
When you open StrongLifts, your iPhone goes into Low Power Mode. The battery icon at the top turns yellow. Low Power Mode stays on until you turn it off, or until your iPhone charges to 80%.
On iOS 26, the steps are different. Tap Automation at the bottom of the Shortcuts app, tap +, then tap Create Personal Automation. Tap App, choose StrongLifts, select Is Opened and Run Immediately, then tap Next. Tap New Blank Automation, add Set Low Power Mode, then tap Done.
On Apple Watch
- Press the side button to open Control Center.
- Tap the battery percentage button.
- Turn on Low Power Mode. Scroll down, then tap Turn On.
- Open StrongLifts and start your workout.
A yellow circle shows at the top of the screen when Low Power Mode is on. The Always On display turns off.
The setting Settings > Workout > Low Power Mode on your Apple Watch is for the Workout app from Apple. Apple does not say that it works for other apps. Apple also gives no shortcut that turns on Low Power Mode on Apple Watch.
