How do I see the plates on my Apple Watch?

StrongLifts on Apple Watch shows the weight per side of the bar.

The plate calculator shows the plates to load on one side of the bar. When you change your plates or your bar on your iPhone, your Watch shows the new plates.

See the weight per side

The weight per side shows in two places on your Apple Watch:

  • On the sets page of the exercise, under the exercise name.
  • On the rest timer, for your next set.

The line shows the sets, the reps and the weight, then the weight on each side of the bar. For example, Squat at 200lb shows "5×200lb 77.5/side". When the weight is the bar only, it shows "Empty bar".

Open the plate calculator

The plate calculator gives you a complete breakdown of every plate to load on the bar.

You can see the plates in three places on your Apple Watch:

  • On the sets page of the exercise: tap the plate button at the top left.
  • During your warmup: tap the plate button at the top left to see the plates to add to the bar.
  • During your rest: swipe up or turn the Digital Crown to see the plates for your next set.

The plates show for one side of the bar, heaviest first, with the bar weight at the end. For Squat at 200lb on a 45lb bar, the Watch shows 45, 25, 5 and 2.5. A plate in a red outline is a plate that you do not have not set in your equipment settings.

To close the plate calculator, tap the X at the top left.

Change your plates or your bar

You set your plates and your bar on your iPhone. Your Watch uses the same plates and bar.

  1. On your iPhone, open the workout and tap the weight of the exercise.
  2. To change the bar, tap "Bar Weight" and set the new weight.
  3. To change your plates, tap "Plates". Add, change or delete a plate. Then go back.

Your Watch gets a new bar weight at once. Your Watch gets new plates when you go back from the Plates screen. If the plate calculator is open on your Watch, it shows the new plates while it stays open. The weight per side on the sets page changes too.
